With Into the Wild nearly completed I now fervently set my sites upon the entire Harry Potter series, a task far too far overdue. As a child my mum read me the first three novels, a few chapters at a time, as a bed time story. But with the third book completed and my entrance into second grade just beginning, Mum thought it time for me to read my own books. But at the time I loathed reading. It wasn’t, in fact, until third grade, while I was reading A Series of Unfortunate Events did I suddenly realize, like an epiphany, that reading was one of the most enjoyable things one could do. But at that time, when I was still a young reader, Harry potter and the Goblet of Fire stood daunting on the shelf with it’s 734 pages. Only the smartest boy in the class freely opened the book alone on the carpet while the rest of the class learned what he already knew. So I, foolishly though ignorantly, left the task to another day when I was adequately prepared.
Now with all the movies except two released and a nearly half vacant summer left open I choose now to take the task. Now it would just be embarrassing, not to mention disrespectful, to allow myself to be a loyal fan of Harry Potter without ever completing the series. The goal is 4,125 pages in the course of 44 days. Difficult? yes. Impossible? absolutely not. Eager and excited to depart on this journey, I intend to crack Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at early day break tomorrow.
